The 1st HR works Conference in Johannesburg was a huge success, and I’m still buzzing with inspiration. This event is a beacon for HR professionals, offering a platform for connection, growth, and the latest insights in the industry.
Leadership Management International (LMI) South Africa was one of the sponsors at the conference. We’re not just there to exhibit; we’re there to engage and empower. As part of our commitment to the success, we offered exclusive free 15-minute discovery coaching sessions to ignite the participants’ leadership journey.
But that’s not all – as part of the lucky draw, two participants walked away with the “Grandmasters of Success” package, a transformative toolkit for personal development.
Here are some key takeaways from the speakers that genuinely resonated with me:
- Mark Bussain shed light on the crucial link between performance management and outcomes, emphasising the role of trust. His insights on pay equity vs. equality were eye-opening. Did you know SA ranks as the 17th lowest-paying country globally?
- Dineo Sikwele, Group HR Executive & Director at Nutun, shared their EVP approach to the employee experience. Their dedication to co-creation with employees and focus on upskilling (111,695 hours last year!) left me in awe.
- Themba Chakela, Chief People Officer at Blue Sky, emphasised the importance of “head, heart, and hands” in digital transformation. His reminder that transformation must align with measurable impact resonated deeply.
- Mark Baker founder of MyGrow highlighted the lifelong journey of wellbeing, stressing the role of EQ and the future measurement of leaders by their team’s wellbeing.
- And, of course, the awesome AI demo from Microsoft showcased how technology can streamline HR tasks, freeing up time for more strategic initiatives.
One of the most rewarding aspects of attending any HR event is reconnecting with former colleagues and clients. It fills me with pride to witness their growth and success in their new ventures. It was a good day!
